Energy Awareness Starts With Attention

From Healing From Within by Dr. Marlene Fuson, BCND — Chapter 5: Advanced Energy Techniques for Deep Healing

Healing rarely begins with a perfect plan. It often begins with one honest observation and one choice that feels possible.

A Lesson From Chapter 5

Advanced energy concepts can sound complicated, but their most practical starting point is attention. Before adding devices or techniques, notice how people, places, habits, and thoughts affect your sense of steadiness.

Grounding protects a healing practice from becoming another form of chasing. It brings you back to breath, body, environment, and choice—the parts of the experience you can observe directly.

Bring the Idea Into Daily Life

Try the The Ground-and-Notice Practice this week:

  1. Place both feet on the floor and look around the room.
  2. Name five neutral things you can see.
  3. Notice your breathing without changing it, then gently lengthen the exhale.
  4. Ask, ‘What helps me feel safely present right now?’

Reflection for the Week

Which environments help you feel clear and settled, and which leave you depleted?

Write without editing yourself for five minutes. You are not trying to produce the “right” answer; you are creating enough quiet to hear your own honest response.

Your Next Step

Choose one action from this article and practice it for seven days. Keep it small enough to complete even on a difficult day. At the end of the week, ask what felt supportive, what felt forced, and what you want to carry forward.
