Awakening the Healer Within Means Reclaiming Your Participation

From Healing From Within by Dr. Marlene Fuson, BCND — Chapter 21: Awakening the Healer Within
Healing rarely begins with a perfect plan. It often begins with one honest observation and one choice that feels possible.
A Lesson From Chapter 21
The inner healer is not a promise that we can control every outcome. It is the part of us that can participate: ask questions, create supportive routines, seek appropriate care, practice self-compassion, and continue learning.
Personal agency grows when we notice evidence of our own resilience. Even survival strategies we have outgrown may reveal determination, adaptability, and a desire to protect what matters.
Bring the Idea Into Daily Life
Try the The Resilience Evidence List this week:
- List three difficult seasons you have moved through.
- Name one strength you used in each season.
- Identify which strength still serves you today.
- Choose one way to use that strength intentionally this week.
Reflection for the Week
What proof already exists that you are capable of participating in your own transformation?
Write without editing yourself for five minutes. You are not trying to produce the “right” answer; you are creating enough quiet to hear your own honest response.
Your Next Step
Choose one action from this article and practice it for seven days. Keep it small enough to complete even on a difficult day. At the end of the week, ask what felt supportive, what felt forced, and what you want to carry forward.
